Motorsport tire performance Engineer (F/M)

Context

Michelin’s goal is to apply innovations from motorsport to offer more environmental friendly tires, providing better grip, lower rolling resistance, and longer milage.

This means that technological advances made in tires used in extreme competition conditions are transferred to consumer tires. Thus, drivers benefit from higher-performing tires, as well as significant gains in fuel economy and CO2 emission reductions with an increasing proportion of sustainable materials!

Michelin is looking for a Motorsport Performance Engineer to support the development of internal simulation and collaboration with our partners. The objective of this position? Better understand performances to offer new development paths for our products or for our partner’s vehicles! Additional information about the position:

This position is based at our motorsport building, in Cataroux plant in Clermont Ferrand.

 Key achievements expected:

  • Define and drive test plans on DIL simulator

  • Participate to tire modeling development

  • Provide reliable measurement results on Michelin internal bench.

  • Develop innovative measurement protocols.

  • Track data analysis

  • Report to internal and external customer in your area of expertise.

  • Solve ambitious technical problems and share your knowledge.

 Responsibilities:

  • Support our partners and tire designers during test sessions by conducting on-site analysis.

  • Build and optimize tire Forces & Moments tire models.

  • Participate in simulator test sessions internally and with our external partners.

  • Develop and implement criteria and tools to understand the physics of tire/vehicle interaction.

  • Create and maintain a strong technical partnership with our clients.

  • Collaborate with Michelin’s internal R&D teams.

 Your profile interests us if:

  • You hold an engineering master in mechanics and have 3 to 5 years of experience in vehicle dynamics.

  • Experience in motorsport is a plus.

  • You are proficient in English (minimum B2) and French is a plus

  • You have strong skills in vehicle dynamics, analysis, and an interest in understanding the physical domain.

  • Programming (Matlab/Python) is required.

  • You are customer-oriented and able to work in a responsive and cross-functional environment.

  • Additionally, you can work in a team, in a multidisciplinary environment. You have the ability to adapt to different environments and can work with agility and resilience in dynamic environments to closely meet customer needs.
