Canopy careers
Working at Canopy
Canopy Simulations is a small, natively remote company that provides a web platform for running our in-house motorsport simulations at scale in the cloud.
Canopy was founded in the UK in 2015 and has grown organically, supported by revenue, ever since. We are widely known and respected in the motorsport industry as the leading provider of motorsport simulation. In April 2023 Canopy became part of the Michelin Group, so while we maintain our scale-up ethos, we enjoy the support and opportunities conferred by being part of an established global organisation.
We offer a generous remuneration package, an experience of the technological cutting edge, and a friendly working environment.
We are fully remote, and team members often work away from home or mix holidays and work to extend their leave. While we do offer lots of flexibility in terms of your place of work, you will be a PAYE employee and must therefore be tax resident in the UK. A week of in-person onboarding at a co-working space will be offered to get you up to speed, with regular opportunities to meet with your colleagues in person beyond that. We have the odd outing too – recently we've been karting, and played mini-golf and laser tag!
We stay connected using Slack, as well as regular video calls and catch ups, and we meet in person too. Some team members also use co-working spaces, which we are happy to fund.

ABOUT YOU
Canopy Simulations has changed the way motorsport teams find performance. We supply cutting edge vehicle simulation tools to teams across the world, including Formula E, Indycar, WEC, and F1. As part of our team you'll gain an understanding of how the best commercially available simulation tools work and what separates the leading cars in global motorsports from the rest.
You’ll have exceptional understanding of the mathematical and physical principles which underpin vehicle performance, and the skills to translate these concepts into our evolving simulation software.
A good degree in engineering is a pre-requisite for applying.
Applicants must have the following attributes
Experience in race car vehicle dynamics, vehicle science, vehicle performance, or vehicle modelling
Experience in numerical simulation, optimisation, control of nonlinear systems, or a related field
Prior coding experience in an object oriented language – C++ is an advantage
Demonstrable ability in physical modelling, in particular an understanding of the maths and physics underlying physical systems
A desire to work remotely, with great written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with our highly talented team of remote engineers.
DUTIES INCLUDE
Developing our state-of-the-art vehicle model and simulation tool in response to changing client requirements and motorsport regulations
Evaluating the performance of new and existing features in the vehicle model and simulation tool against real-world expectations to identify potential bugs and improve simulation results
Liaising with clients to translate feedback and requests into clear written and verbal specifications for new features, and then implementing these features to enable clients to extract the best possible value from our tools
Contributing to our suite of in-house test, development, and visualisation tools used for automated validation of our software releases.
